Best In Film....My Thoughts...

Did anyone watch Best In Film on March 22? If you didn't catch it, celebrities voted what movies would be in the Top 5 categories, such as Comedy, Action/Adventure, etc. This is what I thought....

Comedy's #1: Airplane

This one beat out Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Young Frankenstein, Tootsie, and Some Like It Hot. I've never seen this one, but I hope to soon. I love Leslie Nielsen.

Sci Fi's #1: Star Wars

This one beat out E.T., Avatar, The Matrix, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I was thinking that either E.T., Avatar or Star Wars would make it to be #1.

Animated's #1: Lion King

This one beat out Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, and Fantasia. I was so sure that Fantasia was going to be #1, but Lion King is an amazing movie with great songs sung by Elton John.

Musical's #1: Sound of Music

This one beat out Grease, Wizard of Oz, Singing in the Rain, and West Side Story. I was a little disappointed with this one. My all time favorite musical is Wizard of Oz. I thought for sure Wizard of Oz would be #1. But then again, Sound of Music is a great movie. At least Wizard of Oz made the list.

Suspense/Thriller's #1: Silence of the Lambs

This one beat out Jaws (great movie!), Psycho, The Shining, and Pulp Fiction. Out of all of these movies, I've only seen 4.5/5. I've only seen a little bit of Silence of the Lambs, but never seen Pulp Fiction.

Action's #1: Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark

This one beat out The Dark Knight, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Die Hard, and Gladiator. Gladiator, The Dark Knight, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy are great great films. I'm not a big Indiana Jones fan. I would've considered Gladiator or any of the Lord of the Rings films to make #1.

On-Screen Couple #1: Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet (Titanic)

This one beat out Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh (Gone With the Wind), Richard Gere and Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman), Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman (Casablanca), Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn (Adam's Rib). I must've missed this segment of the show, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet deserve this one for sure.

Greatest Film Character #1: Forrest Gump

This one beat out James Bond, Scarlett O'Hara, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and Indiana Jones. For anyone who hasn't seen Forrest Gump...SHAME ON YOU! I'm glad Forrest Gump got this one. Forrest Gump is one of my all time favorite movies.

Movie Quote #1: "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." (Gone With The Wind)

This one beat out "Go ahead, make my day." (Sudden Impact), "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse." (The Godfather), "I'll have what she's having." (When Harry Met Sally), "Here's looking at you kid." (Casablanca). Gone With The Wind does deserve this one.

Horror's #1: The Exorcist

This one beat out Halloween, Poltergeist, Carrie, and Nightmare on Elm Street. Instead of Nightmare on Elm Street, how about Amityville Horror or Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Anything but Nightmare on Elm Street.

Western's #1: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

This one beat out Dances with Wolves, The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, Unforgiven, and The Magnificent Seven. Dances with Wolves, in my opinion, should've gotten #1.

Chick Flick's #1: The Notebook

This one beat out Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Sleepless in Seattle, and The Way We Were. The Notebook is the greatest movie! This one must've been a tough one. Dirty Dancing is right up there as well.

Political/Historical #1: Schindler's List

This one beat out Dr. Zhivago, 12 Angry Men, All the President's Men, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Out of this category, I've only seen 12 Angry Men and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. I still need to see Schindler's List.

On-Screen Kiss #1: Gone With The Wind

This one beat out From Here to Eternity, Lady and the Tramp, An Officer and a Gentleman, and Casablanca. I'm happy to see that Lady and the Tramp made it onto this category. I love that movie.

Now, the one we've all been waiting for. Drum roll please...

The greatest film of all time is (drum roll): Gone With The Wind

This one beat out Wizard of Oz, The Godfather, Casablanca, and E.T. I'm glad Wizard of Oz was #2. I had a tough time dealing with it, but then go to thinking that Gone With The Wind was a more realistic movie. The sets were huge and a lot more was happening, like houses burning, and a war going on.

So this is my opinion on last night's Best In Film special. I hope you all enjoyed it.
